Lansdowne Bhoys keeper Abdoukarim “Kabo” Danso expressed how delighted he is to be alongside the players and the managerial staff of the club after winning a national double with them.

“We’re always in this together and it’s a great group of people I’m very pleased to be with,” Kabo said.

He previously said: “I’m very honored to be part of this great achievement.”

The national double consists of the Fritz Marth Amateur Cup, which the Bhoys edged Milwaukee Bavaria SC 9-8 in penalty kicks to win, and the Werner Fricker Open Cup, which they blanked Motagua New Orleans 5-0 in the final.

Kabo was named Player of the Month in July by the club. The keeper continued his dazzling form in August as he racked three saves in the Amateur Cup final’s penalty shootout against Bavaria and tallied clean sheets in the semifinal and the final of the Fricker Cup.

“I don’t get high in individual awards,” the Gambian said. “Team success comes first.”

Kabo shifted the spotlight to the team’s coaches and managerial staff.

“It feels great to win it all because the coaching staff and management put a lot of effort to put this team together,” the Gambian said.

“And Austin [Friel] is a great coach. He knows the game very well and understands it too.”

The Irish-based club also won the Manning State Cup earlier in June, which makes them the third team to win the national double and the state cup in the same
